“English textbook, 5 yuan. Electric fan, 10 yuan.” College campuses will be turned into flea markets during graduation. Graduates-to-be set up stands to bargain away those belongings which are difficult to carry back home or to their rented houses. But every student has something which is labeled “Not For Sale”, even though it’s heavy to carry or it takes up space. The “Not For Sale” belongings carry students’ precious memories of campus life. Xu Jingxi, 21st Century staff, talked to three graduates-to-be. They shared the stories behind their “Not For Sale” belongings. Yu Cong, 22, engineering, Tianjin University of Science and Technology于聪(音译),22岁,毕业于天津科技大学工程技术专业。I have a treasure box containing all the items I made by hand in class, including a radio and voltmeter. Textbooks of theory, instruction handouts and experiment reports have been either sold or given to students in lower grades. But this treasure box is definitely “Not For Sale”. It’s proof that I have acquired knowledge and skills and am able to put them into practical use. As an engineering student, it was more exciting and satisfying when my radio received FM signals than when I got all the answers right in paper tests. I had spent days and nights in labs and dorms putting all the tiny radio parts together. Another “Not For Sale” item is my pile of China Daily newspapers. It’s not just a symbol of my English study, but also a symbol of a broadened horizon. I have come from my small hometown city Jingdezhen, where you cannot see China Daily on newspaper stands, to metropolitan Tianjin. Like many other students, my eyes have been open during my college years. I met peers from all over the country, and I volunteered at the Davos forum. /201106/142190If you haven’t contemplated murder, you ain’t been in love. If you haven’t seriously thought about killing the motherfucker, you ain’t been in love. If you haven’t had a can of rat poison in your hand and looked at it for 45 minutes straight, you ain’t been in love. If you haven’t bought a shovel and a bag and a rug to roll they ass up in, you ain’t been in love. If you haven’t practiced your alibi in front of the mirror… you ain’t been in love. And the only thing that stopped you from killing this motherfucker was an episode of CSI. See, relationships are hard. But in order for any relationship to work, both people have to be on the same page. Both people have to have the same focus…and the focus is all about her,is all about her! Fellas, when you wake up in the morning, you should look yourself in the mirror and say,” Fuck you. Fuck your hopes, fuck your dreams, fuck your plans, fuck everything you thought this life was gonna bring you. Now let’s go out there and try and make this bitch happy.” It’s all about her, fellas. Say yes to everything. Everything. Everything you can afford, say yes to. Just say yes. Before she even gets it out of her fucking mouth. “Honey, can…” Yes. “Honey, I…” Yes. Just get a stamp. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. a picture of Jiang QinqinStudy: Magazine ads of thin models make women overeatResearch now shows a supermodel figure or the "ideal" thin woman image reflected in magazine advertisements trigger young women, obsessed with their own body image, to eat more. Interestingly, those with a more balanced healthy body image tend to eat less. The study done in Australia is important in bringing out the point that advertising not only affects the way we think but also our patterns of eating behavior. Fiona Monro, graduate student at the University of New South Wales, explains the results of the study published in the November edition of the journal, Eating Behaviors: "We would expect people who value the way they look would be reminded by viewing the image and not eat." "We're not sure why we found the reverse but possibly because of stress...[women obsessed with their appearance] see the idealized image and think about their own body so turn to food," she adds. Monro says, "They might think 'what's the point, I'm never going to look like that, I may as well eat; or the image makes them think they're thinner than they are so they eat more." Sixty-eight female university students took part in the study: two hours after their last meal, they were asked to prioritize the importance of physical attractiveness, health and physical fitness to find out whether they give importance to the way their body looks. Monro and her team were studying the phenomenon of "self-objectification," or the way people perceive themselves and their bodies as an object to be valued for outward show as opposed to intrinsic worth. A six-year-old primary school pupil is giving the stars of The Apprentice a run for their money, with her flourishing sweet shop business. While contestants of the B television show failed to impress in one of the episodes with their confectionery brand, which was criticized for having too many product offerings, little Mollie Price has concentrated on British sweets and American candy. She is now celebrating the launch of her third shop called ;Mollie#39;s; in the Welsh market town of Welshpool. In recognition of her business achievements she has been declared one of the youngest entrepreneurs in the UK. With the help of her mother Becky, she recently opened her third store in Shrewsbury#39;s Pride Hill Shopping Centre to add to two existing branches on Welshpool High Street and in Newtown#39;s Bear Lanes Shopping Centre. Her mother says Mollie - who organises and selects all of the stock for each of the branches - is now determined to expand her empire. Becky said: ;It might sound crazy but believe Mollie is the real brains behind the operation. She used to love going to pic n mix places and saw there was a gap in the market for it.;她说:;或许听上去有些难以置信,但真的是莫莉自己在打点糖果店生意。 ;;She works in one of the stores on Saturday and wakes up at 5am every Sunday y to go to our wholesale suppliers in Birmingham to restock. She asks her friends to test the sweets to decide which ones are good.;;她每周六都要在店里值班,每周五凌晨5:00就起床准备到伯明翰进货了。 ;;She has plans to expand the business and we might be setting up a new store. She#39;s definitely leaning towards a career in business and she has plans to take over the sweet shops when she#39;s older. It#39;s been a great learning experience for her.;;她想把生意做大,正考虑新开一家店呢。 ;Honouring her favourite film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Mollie has included a plethora of Wonka products. And at the entrance to the shops are two large tin soldiers standing guard named after her two brothers Alfie and George. Becky adds: ;If she doesn#39;t think an idea will work she will say so. By listening to Mollie we are making sure our shops appeal to all ages.;妈妈贝基又说:;莫莉认为想法不妥时会直言不讳,所以征询莫莉的意见很有好处,这样店里的糖果才能吸引各年龄段的顾客。;;She came up with the idea of a temperature chart on the wall so if it#39;s really cold we sell our Mr Whippy ice creams cheaper than when it#39;s hot outside.;;莫莉甚至在墙上贴了一张气温图。

Three men, a doctor, an accountant and a lawyer are dead and they appear in front of St Peter. St Peter tells them that they have to answer one question in order to get to Heaven. He looks at the doctor and asks, ;There was a movie that was made about a ship that sank after hitting an iceberg, what was its name?; The doctor answers, ;The Titanic; and he is sent through. He then looks at the accountant and say, ;How many people died in that ship?; Fortunately the accountant had just watched the movie and he answers, ;1 500!;. St Peter sends him through and then finally turns to the lawyer and commands, in a very heavy voice, ;Name them!;. /201206/185593
