US Cites New Evidence of Iranian Support for Taliban美指责伊朗继续向塔利班提供武器The Pentagon said Wednesday Iran is continuing to provide weapons and other material to Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan, in addition to its alleged continuing support for Shiite militias in Iraq. Officials spoke to reporters Wednesday shortly after a second U.S. aircraft carrier strike group arrived in the Persian Gulf. The chief of operations for the senior U.S. military staff, Lieutenant General Carter Ham, says Iranian support for the Taliban, first reported last year, is continuing. There is indication that the Iranian support of the Taliban has continued," said General Ham. "Again, we don't believe it to be at the same level of which they have provided fighters and weapons into Iraq. But there is some clear evidence that it has occurred." General Ham says the support involves "weapons and material," but he did not provide details of what Iran sends or how much. He did say there is no indication Iran is providing the high-powered roadside bombs it has given to insurgents in Iraq. The new allegation comes as two U.S. aircraft carrier strike groups are in the Persian Gulf in an unusual display of American military power in the waterway along Iran's southwestern coast. Officials say one carrier group is relieving the other, and the overlap will not last long. On Tuesday, Defense Secretary Robert Gates offered this characterization of the temporary double deployment. I don't see it as an escalation," said Secretary Gates. "I think it could be seen, though, as a reminder." General Ham says the message is aimed at both U.S. allies and potential adversaries in the region, but he said it would be a mistake to view the carrier overlap as designed specifically to send a message to Iran. The message of commitment to the region is one that we think is important, but it's not intended to be any more than that," he said. "It's a message to all nations that the ed States possesses the capability and the will to operate globally. So this is an opportunity to do that." General Ham says the two carriers will enable U.S. commanders to order more air strikes in Iraq, as well as more reconnaissance flights and other missions. He says it also provides an important training opportunity for the two carrier crews. White House spokeswoman Dana Perino explained it this way. These exercises are not aimed at Iran," said Dana Perino. "They reinforce that the U.S. has an enduring commitment to the region and to our allies and we continue to protect our allies and interests wherever necessary." Also on Wednesday, the director of planning for the U.S. military staff, Lieutenant General John Satler, denied a news report that indicated there is increased planning for potential U.S. military action against Iran. There has been no order, specific order, to plan in any particular area of the world," said General Satler. "But I want to make it clear to everyone that we do plan. We challenge those plans. We challenge the assumptions of those plans, ongoing. And I would just leave it at that. We don't discuss, as you well know, specific plans that are ongoing or operations that are ongoing." U.S. officials have said they do not want to have a military confrontation with Iran, and hope to work through allies and diplomatic channels to convince Iranian leaders not to support insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan. With all but half a percent of the ballots counted from Sunday's presidential election in Russia, Kremlin candidate Dmitri Medvedev has garnered more than all of his opponents, combined. Now, Medvedev is indicating how he will share power with outgoing President Vladimir Putin, who is expected to become prime minister. The foregone conclusion of a Medvedev victory is now all but official. Central Election Chief Vladimir Churov announced the preliminary results at a Monday morning news conference in the Russian capital. The only ballots yet to be counted are from Russians voting abroad and inaccessible places of the country. The final half percent will not change the result, with Medvedev winning more than 70 percent of the vote. Communist Party candidate Gennady Zyuganov comes in second, with nearly 18 percent. Vladimir Zhirinovsky, perennial candidate of the Liberal Democratic Party, received less than 10 percent. Andrei Bogdanov, a complete political unknown, got just over one percent. None of the opponents posed a serious threat to Medvedev. Politicians who might have been considered - including former world chess champion Garry Kasparov, human rights activist Vladimir Bukovsky, reformer Boris Nemtsov and former Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov - were prohibited from running because of technicalities. Election chief Churov says voter participation set a nationwide record. The election chief says voter turnout was nearly 70 percent. 70%。But Russia's independent voter rights group, Golos, says the organization received numerous telephone calls on its hotline from teachers, factory workers, university professors and others complaining they were forced to cast ballots. The director of Golos, Lilia Shibanova, told VOA the source of the pressure probably comes from local, not Kremlin authorities. The reason, says Shibanova, is because the goal set by local officials was aimed at boosting results in order get preferential treatment from the center. The highest turnouts, in excess of 90 percent, came from some of Russia's poorest regions, such as Mordovia, Chechnya, and Dagestan. Dmitri Medvedev says he will take over presidential offices in the Kremlin and Mr. Putin will move into the prime minister's office at the Russian Federation Building, also known as Russia's White House. Medvedev says their tandem rule will not create difficulties, because the Russian Constitution clearly delineates authority between the president and head of government. Medvedev notes he will have constitutional authority over foreign affairs. Medvedev says Russia's main foreign policy priority will be to maintain relations with the country's closets neighbors - members of the Commonwealth of Independent States. He says his first foreign visit will be to one of the CIS countries. The Medvedev statement and modest reference to the possibility of victory came Sunday evening, after it was aly clear that official declaration of his presidency was a mere formality. Meanwhile, the head of an observer delegation from the Parliamentary Assembly of Europe, Andreas Gross, says the results indicate a reflection of the will of an electorate whose democratic potential was not tapped. Gross says flaws in the presidential vote were a repeat of the same ones that occurred in December's parliamentary election. He mentioned unequal media access for opposition candidates, which is one of the reasons Russian critics have called Sunday's vote "stage-managed." About 300 foreign observers came to monitor an election that involved about 96,000 polling stations over Russia's 11 time zones. The key European monitoring group, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, refused to come, saying restrictions imposed by the Russians would have made a meaningful assessment impossible. I dont think your claim is reasonable, Im afraid I cant help but decline your claim. In that case, your claim should be referred to the insurance company for compensation. We are not in a position to entertain your claim. 另外,补充索赔的搭配:withdraw/waive/abandon a claim撤回索赔,avoid/obviate a claim排除索赔。 /201605/434159Pennsylvania Voters to Cast Key Votes in Race for White House美宾州选民将在关键的初选中投票 All eyes in the U.S. presidential election campaign are on Pennsylvania, where voters will cast ballots Tuesday in the race for the Democratic Party nomination. Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are campaigning in the state almost non-stop. Turn on just about any radio or television anywhere in Pennsylvania and this is what you are likely to hear: Both Obama and Clinton are saturating the state with campaign ads. Governor Edward Rendell - a former mayor of Philadelphia - says he has never seen anything like it. Rendell, a top Clinton supporter, appeared on the CBS network news program Face the Nation. He says Obama is outspending Clinton in Pennsylvania by a margin of more than three to one. I have always been a good money raiser and I have put a lot of money on TV in the closing weeks of my campaign," said Governor Rendell. "But I never exceeded .2 or .3 [million]. The Obama campaign: .9 million. You cannot go anywhere in the Philadelphia region, you cannot listen to TV for 10 minutes without seeing an ad!" The ad campaign has helped Obama cut Clinton's lead in the state from double digits to about five or six percent. Senator Robert Casey - considered the most popular Democratic Party office holder in the state and an Obama backer - says he will not predict what will happen when voters go to the polls on Tuesday. He also appeared on Face the Nation."I think it is going to be an interesting night on the 22nd," said Senator Casey. "I do not think anyone knows where it will end. But I do think that from Senator Obama's perspective that he has made tremendous progress in the last six or seven weeks."Both Rendell and Casey have put their prestige on the line in this election. Casey has been traveling across the state with Obama in the final days of the primary campaign, traveling by train from one town in eastern Pennsylvania to another. At all stops, Obama has been focusing on his message of change. The choice you have right now in this Pennsylvania primary is whether to vote your hopes or your fears, whether you decide to not accept what the cynics tell you you have to settle for, but instead you decide to reach for what is possible," said Barack Obama. Pennsylvania has the second oldest population in the nation, right behind Florida. And while the Obama campaign's focus on change has resonated with young voters, it has fallen flat with many of their grandparents. Seniors remain a strong voting bloc in the state, and they are more attracted to experience and stability. At her campaign stops in the Pittsburgh area, Clinton is telling voters that they have to fill the most important job in the country, and experience counts. Who would you hire to restore our reputation and leadership in the world," asked Hillary Clinton. "And who would you hire to end the war in Iraq and win the war in Afghanistan?" 你们将用谁来结束伊拉克战争,赢得阿富汗战争?”Pennsylvania voters originally thought their primary might be an afterthought in the campaign. It is one of the last of the big populous states to vote in the selection process, coming months after the February primaries that, at one point, were expected to decide the Democratic nominee. Now Pennsylvanians find they are at the center of a protracted fight for the party nomination. And there are signs this state will also be a big battle ground months from now in the general election campaign. Not only are Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton running ads here, but so too is the presumptive Republican nominee, Senator John McCain.

The problem is that there are so many things that can be used to make a bomb whether it'd be a digital watch, batteries, or even liquid explosive, they can look like aftershave lotion. By themselves, they look quite innocuous, but assembled together is when they become deadly. For that reason, the Explosives maintains a huge supply of potential bomb-making ingredients. We keep an extensive collection of known standard, clocks, batteries, watches, wire, anything that can be used to make a bomb, we try to keep a sample of, so that we can to try to identify using those the piece that we have in. Using these elements, examiners begin to reconstruct the bomb that killed the New Jersey executive. We actually lay it all out here in the laboratory and see if we can figure out how it fit together and how it came apart which sometimes will tell us what the type of explosive was used. So in this, as the bomb is reassembled, examiners realize they are dealing with a serial bomber who's eluded them for years, the infamous Unabomber. Probably one of the toughest cases that our unit has faced was the Unabomber case. 16 devices, 17 years of investigation, clearly, that was the one that caused us the most trouble. While serial bombers tend to be meticulous and cleverly illusive, the secret to identifying them is to uncover what the FBI calls the bomber's signature. The way they wrap wires, the way they tie knots, the materials that they choose to put into the bomb, those things can often indicate to us that we're dealing with someone who's building a series of bombs. In fact, Sachtleben says the Unabomber literally signed his bombs. Over several devices, he put the letters “FC” in there to let us know that's who it was. But there was even more of a signature than that. We could tell after looking at the 16 bombs that he had made-------the way that he put his batteries in there, the way that the wires were connected, the soldering that he did. Many of those things indicate to us that it was the same personThanks to device analysis and a lucky break, the Unabomber was later identified as this man, Ted Kaczynski. The evidence gathered by the FBI Explosives was instrumental in putting him away for a life. Device analysis is also crucial to solving both the Olympic and abortion clinic bombings. This is a replica of the deadly terrorist bomb that rocked the Olympic Games.innocuous: harmless, not causing injury or damage; not offensiveelude: avoid; shirk, escapesoldering: act of fusing metal surfaces together with solder 200809/50874河南省中医院整形Um, On November 15th, 2000, Peter Taylor gave me the greatest honor of my career in making me captain of England and fulfilling my childhood dream. Now almost six years later, having been captain for 58 of my 95 caps, I feel the time is right to pass on the armband as we enter into a new era under Steve McClaren. It has been an honor and a privilege to have captained their country and I want to stress that I wish to continue to play for England and look forward to helping both the new captain and Steve McClaren in any way I can. I came to this decision some time ago, but I had hoped to announce it on the back of a successful World Cup. Sadly, that wasn't meant, that wasn't to be. This decision has been, has been the most difficult of my career to date. But after discussing it with my family and the closest to me, I feel it the time is right. Our performance during this World Cup has not been enough to progress further, and both myself and all the players regret that and are hurt, and are hurt by that more than people realize. I wish to thank all the players, er, for their support, er, during my time as captain as well Peter Tailor, Sven and all the coaches. I would also like to thank the press and, of course, the England supporters who have been both great to me and my teammates and I want them to know for me, it has been an absolute honor. Finally, I have lived the dream. I have, I am extremely proud to have worn the armband and been captain of England. And for that, I would always be grateful. Thank you very much.
