Egg keep you feeling full much longer than cereal or toast. The protein and fat in eggs helps sustain your energy levels, keeping you satisfied for longer and reducing the need for a mid morning snack. 2. Eggs assist weight loss. This is a follow on benefit from keeping you satiated. Studies have shown that people who eat eggs for breakfast are more likely to lose weight than those who ate bagels. 3. Eggs are a great source of protein.Whole eggs are one of the most complete sources of protein, meaning eggs contain all the essential amino acids which we must get from our diets. 4. Eggs tend to be relatively inexpensive.Compared to other high protein foods such as red meat, even free range eggs are more budget friendly. /201107/144638Get a Job One day shortly after I had come home from college, my father was outside doing yard work. He found a baby bird under a tree and assumed it had fallen from its nest. Wanting to return the tiny creature to its home, my dad went to get a ladder . When he got back, he found another baby bird on the ground. Suddenly he heard a loud chirping from above. Looking up, my father saw the mother bird giving a third baby the boot from its nest. With that, Dad walked into our house, took one look at me watching television and barked, "Get a job!" /201107/143549You’re better off alone! Don’t get stuck in a ‘make up/break up’ patternThe beginning of summer is always ripe with barbecues, graduations and weddings. Although these get-togethers often happily reunite us with family and friends, they also tend to unhappily reunite us with our exes of yesteryear. Indeed, even with all we have learned from painful breakups, some of us simply cannot resist the temptation of reconnecting with an old flame. And when that old flame is front row and center at a mutual friend’s wedding, the temptation becomes even more irresistible. If this pattern of “making up and breaking up” sounds familiar to you, you might be part of a revolving-door relationship. Much like a revolving door, your relationship with your ex is never stagnant — he is always on the way into your heart or on the way out.Your family and friends have heard the many dramas of your relationship with your ex more times than they would like to count, and although you know you sound like a broken record, something always pulls you back into the relationship. The revolving door whooshes again, and you are back in the middle of the broken (and breaking) relationship. How can you stop this pattern once and for all, especially in the middle of summer social activities?Change your pattern. When relationships get stuck in a revolving rut, it is generally because our lives are stuck in a revolving rut. By changing your routine, you can change your point of view and end a make-up and break-up cycle. How can you do this? Explore different activities, go to new restaurants, spend time with old friends, or even go on a much-needed vacation. Figure out what is keeping your life in stalemate (chances are that it isn’t just your relationship) and then make a change.Figure out why you are relying on a broken relationship. You know that your ex isn’t good for you, and you know that you aren’t good for your ex. So why do you keep returning to each other? Don’t fool yourself into thinking that love alone is driving your revolving door, as there are generally a myriad of different emotions driving your decision process. Figuring out these emotions and deciphering what is truly driving you to be in a broken relationship will help you stop the destructive pattern.Sit down and write down the emotions that come to your mind when you think about breaking up with your ex for good. Whether you are jealous at the thought of seeing your ex with someone new, nostalgic at the thought of losing a close friend, or terrified at the thought of being alone and dating again, you might be surprised to discover that your list isn’t built upon love alone. Of course, all of the above emotions are valid and sincere emotions — but that doesn’t mean that you can build a loving, lasting relationship upon them.Talk about it with a professional. Breakups are often seen as something most people can make it through on their own. However, most people tend to assuage their broken hearts through self-medicating with destructive behaviors like drinking, one-night stands, angry late-night phone calls to their ex, etc. Losing someone you love through a breakup or a divorce is heartbreaking, and trying to go it alone can be overwhelming. This is why so many people get stuck in a revolving-door cycle, as being alone can be so painful that people would rather be in a bad relationship. A counselor can help you make smarter choices, and give you what you need the most: an unbiased listener. Finally, it might be helpful to keep two lists on hand with you at all times — one list to remind you why the relationship can’t work (he doesn’t want kids, you don’t share similar life goals, etc.), and one list to remind you why you are content and complete as you are (you love the freedom to meet new people, you have a wonderful network of friends and family, etc.).Rely on this network as you go through this difficult time, and allow yourself the freedom to be sad, mad, lonely and so on. As the emotions move through you, they will slowly lose their potency, and you will be y to say goodbye to your ex and move on to a happy, healthy new relationship. U.S. doctors have found the Bee Gees 1977 disco anthem "Stayin' Alive" provides an ideal beat to follow while performing chest compressions as part of CPR on a heart attack victim. The American Heart Association calls for chest compressions to be given at a rate of 100 per minute in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)(心肺复苏). "Stayin' Alive" almost perfectly matches that, with 103 beats per minute.CPR is a lifesaving technique involvingchest compressions(心脏按压) alone or with mouth-to-mouth rescue breathing(口对口人工呼吸). It is used in emergencies such as cardiac arrest in which a person's breathing or heartbeat has stopped.CPR can triple survival rates, but some people are reluctant to do it in part because they are unsure about the proper rhythm for chest compressions. But research has shown many people do chest compressions too slowly during CPR.In a small study headed by Dr. David Matlock of the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria, listening to "Stayin' Alive" helped 15 doctors and medical students to perform chest compressions on dummies at the proper speed.Five weeks after practicing with the music playing, they were asked to perform CPR again on dummies by keeping the song in their minds, and again they kept up a good pace."The theme 'Stayin' Alive' is very appropriate for the situation," Matlock said in a telephone interview on Thursday. "Everybody's heard it at some point in their life. People know the song and can keep it in their head."The findings will be presented this month at a meeting of the American College of Emergency Physicians in Chicago. /200810/54040

By now, almost everyone is aware of the powerful benefits of meditation. When we become conscious of our breathing and direct our awareness inward, our body relaxes, our blood pressure and heart rate drop, and our brain state shifts from anxiety producing beta waves to the smoother experience of alpha waves. But here's the problem – who has the time? Most of us have jobs to go to, families to care for, and errands to run. In the midst of the chaos of daily life, we simply don't have the luxury of meditating all day like monks in a monastery. There is, however, a simple solution to this problem. It requires that we rethink the very nature of meditation. 1. It's All About the Breath You can get lost in the details of meditation. You can become obsessed with posture, mantras (repeated phrases), and mudras (finger locks). But reduced to its essence, meditation is all about the breath. We always breathe, but, when we meditate, we breathe consciously. We bring our awareness to each inhale and exhale. So while you may not be able to sit in lotus pose during a board meeting, that doesn't mean that you can't meditate. 2. Finding the Gaps 见缝插针 All of us, no matter how busy, have small gaps in our day that are perfect for meditation. It might be the five-minute wait in line at the grocery store, the 10-minutes you spend stuck in traffic, or the two minutes you spend waiting for your computer to start up. In these moments, try shifting from frustration to meditation. You can also bring meditation into almost any workday task. Take meetings. In my experience, most meetings only require about 50% of our attention. So this leaves about 50% of your attention open for meditation. So rather than getting bored, try meditating. Experiment with bringing your attention to the breath as you follow the flow of the meeting. With practice, you can learn to meditate while doing just about any task – while checking emails, talking on the phone, or commuting to work.

If you've been through it, this will probably come as no surprise. Divorce can add years to a person's face, it is claimed. Researchers found that marriage breakdown can take a significant toll on appearance. They looked at identical twins, who would be genetically predisposed to age at a similar pace, to determine whether certain experiences affected ageing. A person's heritage may initially dictate how they age but if you introduce certain factors into your life, you will certainly age faster, and likewise, if you avoid those factors you can slow down the hands of time," said Professor Bahaman Guyuron, who led the study. Professor Guyuron and his colleagues gathered information from questionnaires and digital images taken from 186 pairs of twins. An independent panel of judges then viewed the images for perceived age differences between the siblings. The results showed that the twin who had gone through a divorce appeared two years older than the one who was married, single or had been widowed. Those who took antidepressants or were overweight also aged quicker. It is thought antidepressants can calm the facial muscles, causing them to sag in longterm users. The research was conducted by the Case Western Reserve University in the U.S., and published in the Journal Of The American Society Of Plastic Surgeons. Sun exposure, smoking and alcohol use were all found to have a negative effect on appearance. /200905/71084

Sleeping with the light on could leave you feeling low the next day, scientists have warned. They say that a night-light – however dim – may affect the structure of the brain, raising the odds of depression. The eerie glow emitted by a TV or the seemingly reassuring presence of a night-light could be enough to impact on mental health. It is the latest in a long line of warnings about the potential dangers of disrupting the body’s natural sleep-wake cycle. There are concerns that shift workers are at higher risk of breast cancer and, only last month, a study linked night-time light with weight gain. With complete darkness being hard to achieve in the modern world, experts say the findings could have serious implications for health. In the latest study, presented at an American conference, researchers from Ohio State University looked at the effect of exposing rodents to dim light in the eight hours or so they would usually be asleep. At the equivalent of having a television on in a darkened room, the lamp used was not bright, but it was enough to affect the animals’ behaviour, the Society for Neuroscience’s annual conference heard. Researcher Tracy Bedrosian said: ‘The hippocampus plays a key role in depressive disorders, so finding changes there is significant. ‘Even dim light at night is sufficient to provoke depressive behaviour.’Neuroscientist Dr Randy Nelson said: ‘The light was a very low level. Something that most people could easily encounter every night. /201011/118819
